July – Month of the Precious Blood

July 10, 2014 by Fr. Ben Cameron Leave a Comment

There is a tradition that certain months of the year are associated with particular feasts of the Church, particular aspects of our Faith.  The month of July has traditionally been the month in which the Precious Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is honored — that blood which was poured out upon the Cross for our salvation.  I would encourage each member of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mercy to try to spend a few moments, each day, thinking about the Precious Blood of Jesus — about that blood flowing from his pierced head, hands, feet and side — and how He suffered all that as an act of pure and total love for YOU!

There is a wonderful little sacramental that I give out all the time when I am preaching parish missions and retreats.  It is called a “Precious Blood Badge.”  On one side of the badge it says:  “Place on your heart one drop of the Precious Blood of Jesus and fear nothing.”  What a wonderful thing for us to remember, especially when we are suffering from anxieties and fears!  On the other side, it says: “We pray You Lord, help Your people, Whom You have redeemed with Your Precious Blood.”  So it is a prayer for the help of our Blessed Lord, and a reminder to us to Trust in His Blood, which He poured out so generously for our salvation and holiness.

If anyone would like to have a Precious Blood Badge, just send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your request, and I will be happy to send you one (or a few, if you would like).  You can send your envelope and request to:

Fr. Ben Cameron, CPM / Confraternity of Our Lady of Mercy / 806 Shaker Museum Rd. / Auburn, KY  42206.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and pour out upon you all the graces which He won upon the Cross through the shedding of His Precious Blood!

Reflections on Grief, following the death of my father

On October 8th of this year, I lost my father (Walter Eugene Cameron) to lung cancer. It was the second great grief of my life, the first being the death of my brother, Matthew, to lung cancer four years ago. Granted, I have felt grief at other deaths both before Matthew’s passing, and since then, […]

Special Grace of Divine Mercy Sunday

In the Diary of St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul, the Lord Jesus said that He would give special graces on the Feast of Mercy, the Octave Sunday of Easter.  On that day, Our Lord promises that those who have been to the Sacrament of Confession (and, of course, made a good confession of […]

Thoughts on the March for Life 2022

Due to the pandemic, it had been two […]
